Joints of Joy
Design concept:
This lamp was inspired by the form of a Mandala, a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism representing the universe. The shadow cast resembles the motif of a Swastika; which means “good fortune” or “well-being”. ‘Joints of Joy’ therefore represents the universe (lamp) radiating good fortune (shadow cast) to dispel negative energy (darkness) around it, thereby bringing good luck and inner peace to the user. By infusing religion into its design, my group also hopes that it will bring about better understanding and appreciation for religious forms.

The construction and design of the lamp is based on a group effort.
Group members: Winnie, Benny, Basirah and Ivy.
